To qualify for the advanced group the following requirements must be fulfilled in the advanced group test. The test date will be specified separately and it will be held by at least two advanced group members and one instructor.
1st Requirement
An advanced group member must know and understand all twelve (12) Hauptstücke and five (5) Meisterhau of the German longsword tradition.
Requirement 1 will be tested in the advanced group test so that the fencer must remember all Hauptsücke and Meisterhau by memory. The fencer must be able to demonstrate at least one example of each and explain understandably the purpose and principle of each.
The Hauptstücke may be studied independently from the sources or by asking help from any member of the advanced group.
2nd Requirement
An advanced group member must show adequate control, ability to take the initiative and stamina while freefencing. A member must also be ready to fence with fencers of any level or style.
Requirement 2 will be tested in the advanced group test so that the fencer will fence three rounds of three minutes (3 x 3 min) with one minute (1 min) breaks against different opponents. The fencer must show adequate control and ability to take the initiative throughout the fencing.
3rd Requirement
An advanced group member must show adequate activity and commitment in training.
Requirement 3 will be tested in the advanced group test so that the average training activity of the fencer must be at least one and a half training per week (1,5 times/week) during a time of three (3) months before the test. This means at least 18 training sessions during 3 months.
The burden on proving the training activity is on the fencer. The simplest way to show this is to mark your presence on the chart on the wall.
